Welcome to the  English-Connect page. My name is Brendan and I will be your English Conversation Tutor. If you have have at least a pre-Intermediate level of English then these classes might be what you are looking for.

English Coaching for Catalan and Spanish Adults With Busy Schedules!

An hour, two hours or more, you choose. Whether it's one-on-one or in small, focused online groups, we’ll dive into cool and relevant topics, or maybe not so cool or relevant but hopefully,engaging speaking activities. It’s all about building your fluency, boosting your confidence, and sharpening your English language skills through immersive conversations that may take you down a rabbit hole or two. Who doesn't like rabbit holes? So, let's learn in a supportive environment, where confidence and progress come through interaction and by ditching the fear of making mistakes.

Teaching Methodology

Awareness = insight (Recognising  your weaknesses (probably shyness)  and establishing goals)
Action = engagement (practice the skills you actually have - Yes,  you have -    by expressing yourself freely)
Authenticity = identity (communicate with confidence in your own, authentic way, on our own terms. No one's gonna judge you!)

 

My lessons are conversation-based, designed for professionals and motivated learners who are eager to improve. A B1 level  is sincerely recommended. We are not going to page 10 of English Grammar In Use. Classes will be  fun, engaging, and include constructive feedback, with corrections given when needed. If you're stuck repeating certain mistakes, I’ll help you work through and fix them. While the focus is on communication, grammar isn’t ignored. I'll incorporate grammar points into our lessons if I see you need them. You'll notice most of my blog/ lessons have a grammar point included anyway. But it's not the focus, rather an extra.

We’ll explore real-world topics, current events, and trending news, giving you the opportunity to express your ideas and opinions freely, without the fear of making mistakes. Making mistakes is not only okay, it’s an essential part of the learning process. It's ENCOURAGED!

My goal is to help you speak English naturally, confidently, and with more purpose. English isn’t just a subject to learn, I see it as a conversation, and through our lessons, you’ll build fluency through expressing ideas, opinions and any doubts,  that come up - through conversation. This is when real learning happens. Because you'll remember the lesson. If it's interesting and engaging, of course you're going to remember the lesson. If you remember a lesson it means you learnt something, something stuck. It goes without saying though: A lot depends on your attitude and willingness to show up and make the most of your English hour.

Frequently asked questions

What level of English should I have to to do these classes.

A minimum of B1 is recommended. These are are not grammar based classes but rather focus on immersion in the language ( speaking, listening , gaining new vocabulary , learning key phrases and gaining confidence) We do offer an affiliated alternative for beginners and pre-intermediate learners

How do we adapt to the specific needs of our clients?

If it is an individual 1:1 class we adapt to the students needs and will adapt to the requirements of the student when possible. In group classes a B1 level is preferred.

Do we get feedback and corrected during class

Yes, absolutely. We give constant feedback and correction during and after classes.You will recieve class material and references , including audio, before the class.

Do you offer classes at the clients home or office And what if I live outside of Catalonia, or Spain?

I do , but that will depend on my schedule. Online classes are more practical for everyone so preferred. It doesn't matter where you live. Yu could live in the UK, Germany or any part of the world. If time zones are favourable we just hook up online.

Do you offer home and in-company classes?

Yes, I offer home and in-company 1-on-1 sessions or group sessions in CARDEDEU or nearby but we would need to make a specific arrangement for that and depends on availability. The sessions as mentioned,  are mostly online, through Google Meets, up to 3 students per group.More than three and individual speaking time is decreased

These aren’t the usual classes ,”focused on memorising verb lists, drilling grammar, or filling in gaps. The focus is on real conversation, constant practice, and improving little by little every day, with targeted exercises to support what  I am learning. Online is great for me as I don't leave the house.
