....my journey so far

After years of teaching English, one insight stands out: clients value meaningful interactions with their teacher. They want a safe space where mistakes are encouraged and learning is stimulating. This inspired the creation of English-Connect.

You might ask, "What about grammar, structures, business concepts, and exams?" Absolutely, they’re essential. A1 learners need grammar for a solid foundation. These fundamentals have always been core to my teaching.

Over time, I shifted focus to business English, working with companies and professionals using English to advance their careers or enter international markets, often at B1 to C2 levels.

I've had the privilege of coaching talented individuals to become confident English communicators. Many successfully passed B2 and C1 exams, achieving key language milestones.

The Catch...

One day, I had a realization similar to Newton’s apple moment. Teaching offers profound rewards—witnessing students transform from hesitant learners to confident speakers. While I’m no wizard, real change isn’t magical or instant. Being from Catalunya, I’ll never be a native English speaker, just as learners won’t be native English speakers. But success is measurable, and every improvement is a victory worth celebrating.

Before delving deeper, let’s talk irony. Alanis Morissette’s song "Ironic" is about life’s contradictions, not true irony. The irony lies in the song misunderstanding irony. So what does this have to do with me?

Years ago, I decided to become a more "professional" teacher—studying grammar, wearing a suit, delivering structured lessons, and conducting regular tests. I thought this would earn respect and improve my teaching. But instead, I started losing students. Group sizes shrank, and enthusiasm faded.

Then I had my "apple moment": my rigid, overly formal approach was draining the energy from my lessons. Students didn’t need monotonous drills; they needed dynamic, inspiring lessons that sparked curiosity. Watching the enthusiasm fade, I knew I had to change—and fast. How could I make lessons something students genuinely looked forward to?

That was the start of my journey to reinvent myself as an English language coach. It’s been a transformative process, leading me to where I am now—offering lessons designed to inspire, motivate, and challenge my students.

More to come. My challenges and relationship with intermediary companies

Ironic

Well, life has a funny way of sneaking up on you
When you think everything's okay and everything's going right
And life has a funny way of helping you out
When you think everything's gone wrong
And everything blows up in your face

It's a traffic jam when you're already late
A "No smoking" sign on your cigarette break
It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife
It's meeting the man of my dreams
And then meeting his beautiful wife

And isn't it ironic?
Don't you think?
A little too ironic
And yeah, I really do think
